OUR MISSION
|
The dream of The Bluebonnet Children’s Choir of the Brazos Valley, Inc. is to develop and inspire an intrinsic love of music in children and families of the Brazos Valley community. Through joyful music and community connection, we build self esteem and foster members’ artistic and personal growth.
We are creating a world where free music education builds happier children, families, and communities. To fulfill our mission, the Bluebonnet Children’s Choir operates as a free, school-year program offering weekly rehearsals and seasonal performances. Each semester, we serve approximately 60 children in grades 2–8, providing high-quality choral education at no cost to families. |
Since our founding in 2023, the Bluebonnet Children’s Choir has provided free, high-quality music education to children across the Brazos Valley, serving 134 students in just two and half concert seasons. With approximately 60 chorus members each semester, the choir offers weekly rehearsals, performances, and community outreach opportunities—including service performances in senior living communities. Through 26 performances to date, and ongoing instruction, chorus members build musical skills, confidence, teamwork, and a lasting connection to the arts—extending our impact well beyond the stage.
The Bluebonnet Season Experience
Throughout the season, chorus members embark on a shared musical journey shaped by a unifying theme and a thoughtfully chosen repertoire that brings stories to life through song. Under the guidance of our inspiring and dedicated directors, children grow as musicians while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Weekly rehearsals become a place of laughter, belonging, and friendship—where young singers feel supported, challenged, and celebrated. Together, they form a joyful community that learns, performs, and makes lasting memories both on and off the stage.
This year’s theme, The Wonderful Things You Will Be, is inspired by the beloved children’s book The Wonderful Things You Will Be, beautifully weaving together music and literacy. Through repertoire that reflects the book’s message, chorus members explore storytelling through song while discovering the joy, hope, and possibilities that life holds. By connecting words and music, the season encourages young singers to imagine who they are becoming, celebrate creativity, and experience the deep joy found in learning, friendship, and shared expression.
